facebook & other things

I never thought I would enjoy being on facebook and now I can't stay off of it!
Reconnecting with my old high school friends, seeing pictures of them now, with their families and sharing memories has been great.
***************************************************************************************
Also, preparing for surgery, which may take a couple of months.
Swimming everyday and eating healthy foods. I feel pretty good and want to get even better.
Made some beaded earrings, a necklace and cell phone charms.

major decision...

Eleven months ago I had knee replacement surgery on my right knee and now, for the first time, I uttered the words to my doc...let's do the other! wow...I shocked myself & Rico.
The pain has been unbearable in the left and with the right feeling pretty good, and since arthritis never gets better on its own...what else can I do?
Not sure of the date yet, but hopefully in a month or so.
More news to follow!

party on paper niche...

The Paper Niche (Tammy & Rhonda) really know how to throw a party!
This was a "surprise" brunch for Barbie (going to school full time) and Kelley (having a baby & leaving the Niche) at Charley's Crab in Ft. Lauderdale on the Intracoastal waterway.
Check the background in the pictures.
They came out a little dark because of the glare from the water, but believe me, everyone
was smiling and laughing the entire time. We had lobster & crab omelets, fruit & potatoes, and let's not forget the Bloody Mary's & Mimosa's.
Thanks girls (T & R) and good luck to K & B in their adventures.

my birdies had a FIESTA NIGHT!!!

The Paper Niche has a Saturday night crop night,
with a different theme each week. This week was
"MEXICAN FIESTA".
Below is the project of the night, put together
by Beatriz. She did a great job!

this is from Beatriz' blog: so nice of her!
"What a night! We had another unforgettable crop night @ Paper Niche. This week the theme was "Mexican Fiesta". We had a real pinata filled with scrapbook goodies and Tammy's husband was sooo nice in holding it so we can hit it and break it!The food was delicious! We had Bean dip, chicken tacos, corn & bean salad, chips and candy. Camille's birds were the hit of the night when they became "Mexican boys" for the night's layout. Tammy, you are amazing! Thank you for making our crops something we look forward to week after week. We love you!"
Thanks Bea and Tammy and all the girls at the Niche!
I love the way she put the sombrero on their little heads! OLE'
I am so happy that these little guys and gals are being used in so many different ways.
Please send pictures if have them and show me what you've done. Thanks!

Michael's arts & crafts and JoAnn's...big sale!

Dropped in to the local Michael's for ONE thing and found a few sale items...even their $1 section was 30% off...what would you do??? They had the cutest little note cards, journals, paper, etc, for .70 cents! Great little gift items to tuck in to a basket. I also picked up a few chipboard albums in the shape of a house, cloud and sun...they had more shapes, but I had to stop myself. Made by crayola, with the key ring and all! What a deal...check it out if you get a chance.
Then I ran over to Jo Ann's and they are having a summer sale...50%-70% of just about everything. Too much fun!

a day of creativity...my favorite kind of day!

After a fun filled day of beading and scrapbooking,
my prize from Martha Stewart arrived! It is 416 pages
of creative goodness! Can't wait to view every single, well
photographed project and page...to be continued!

Below are some pictures of our day.

toga party!

Each month we gather at Jane's house to make things...cards and other projects. At the end of the season we have a little party, complete with food, costumes and crafting. It's a great event! Jane is a rep for Stampin' Up and is very creative. She puts so much effort in coming up with new ideas for us to make and always provides a pleasant atmosphere for us to enjoy. Here are a few pics from today...the theme was toga party, some of us dressed up and Rebeca won for best (sheet)...I mean costume! Fun for all and we made three very cute cards & tags (photo later) oh, and we also had a card swap.

they are taking over and I'm obsessed!

I know I have already posted these birds, but since the last time I have made about 100 more of them...I can't stop!
When I close my eyes, I see them!
I love these little birdies, each and every one...they have become an obsession...I find paper with great designs and have to make them. So, I cut and assemble until they look just right and when I think they are perfect...they can fly away...although, I find a few special ones, that I will keep to make cards, or put a magnet on the back (below), or maybe even make a layout for my scrapbook...but in the meantime, I just love looking at them...
you can find them on etsy: http://camille1955.etsy.com

or locally at the Paper Niche in Plantation or Stamp Shack in Ft. Lauderdale.

I won!!! I won!!!

I entered every single item I have ever made
to "Calling all Crafters" on Martha Stewart.com,
(to win her book, above)
and they picked this one! There were 1238 entries
(not all mine, LOL) and they choose their ten
favorites to send her new book to,
Martha Stewarts Encyclopedia of Crafts (a $35 value...he he)
and they will feature the winners on her website and
who knows...maybe her show next season!!!
These were made from a class I taught last year at
The Paper Niche in Plantation!
You can find a rubber stamp very similar to this, a 2 piece set,
at Stamp Shack, in Ft. Lauderdale...you'll have to call for availability and price.

SURPRISE!!!

The Paper Niche girls threw a fantastic
surprise baby shower for Bonita at the Cheesecake Factory.
We had a great time, laughing & talking...
so much that the grouchy old man at the table next to us,
told us to "shut up"! His wife apologized as they left,
but that didn't stop us from carrying on!
Joanie was out of town, so she missed the fun,
(we missed her too).
The food was great, martini's for some and of course,
cheesecake for dessert.

I love these girls!

my new owl collection

I was inspired this weekend to create these
cute little owl embellishments. I fell in love with
a cute stuffed owl I found on etsy,

http://mqsquare.etsy.com/

that led me to come up with a paper version for
all of us paper crafters out here.

I then drew a pattern, hand cut, inked, embellished
and put together in just a few easy steps.
No two are alike and they are so much fun to make.
You can use them on your scrapbooks, cards or
anywhere you want.
The pictures are a little dark, but I will take new ones.
Interested in buying??? Go to etsy or artfire to view.

have about 100 ready to go by Monday...

a trip through flamingo road nursery...paradise!

We took a stroll through the nursery on flamingo
road and couldn't believe how massive this place was!
It just went on & on with plants everywhere &
every type imaginable. Also a screen enclosure with
butterflies and all the plants they love. The smells
were heavenly and the colors...wow!
It is the kind of place you could spend an afternoon
taking in the sites & smells, eat & drink something
and then sit on one of the benches and just relax.
We saw lizards, birds, butterflies
in every color, waterfalls & fountains and so
much more. We picked up a couple new plants
for our butterfly garden and I took about 50
pictures...here are a few. Check this place out when
you get a chance. It's FREE to hang out...you
have to pay for the plants & garden items if you
want to take them home!

Lately I have been focused on gardening and
photography...noticed??? Love it!
Now if I could only turn my attention to jewelry making
and other crafts to sell on my websites...hmmmm :)

health update 4/26/09

not good...ended up at the hospital this morning,
trying a stronger antibiotic, also ear drops with
antibiotics in them. The infection has taken over my
entire head, ears, sinus, throat...not sure what it is,
but hopefully this will do the trick...please Lord!

hooray for hollywood...beach!

We stayed at our very generous friend's beach condo for a few days
this past week (Sunday). Woke up at 3:00 a.m. on our first night
with an earache and a fever...went to the doctor (Monday)
in Plantation around 10:00 (ear infection, etc...)
to the pharmacy to start the antibiotics, back to the beach
for one more night and had to come home to recuperate on Tuesday,
but it got worse, in to the throat, chest, other ear...it's taking over!
After two days, doc change me to a z-pack, still not getting better
after four days, fever, chills, cough, stuffy...finally today (Saturday)
a little better. Hopefully by Monday when I finish the z-pack, I'll feel
better.
One good thing, we will return to the beach, to finish our "vacation"
at another time. In spite of it all, we still enjoyed just sitting and looking
out the window or on the balcony watching and listening...

new beginnings

sunset drive march 12th

a pretty shell on the beach

the shadow knows

sunrise on ft. lauderdale beach

glorious

Well, to start with, the election is over and as you may be picking up on, we are not celebrating.
We were not victorious, at least in the political sense. On a personal level, we are winners.
We've gone through many changes, emotions and revelations in the last few days. A sea of tears, waves of emotions and a spiritual awakening today at sunrise and throughout the day.
Anyhow...we will be fine. We talked about the last 35 years that we have known each other and the many changes we've gone through...wow...and we always get through it. So we know, with God's help, we can do anything.

Got out of the house early today(march 12) and watched the sunrise on Ft. Lauderdale beach.
We needed a day away, for peace and calm, R & R, and a chance to clear our
heads of all the clutter and just be...getting too heavy for ya??? I'm telling you
it was the prescription we needed...and it was free! We were in our element.
We felt like tourist on a vacation from a place who had never been to a beach.

Sunset...took an evening drive, west to
Alligator Alley...great end to a beautiful day
Instead of "The End"...we are saying "New Beginnings"

my unfinished altered book

I just loved working on this last year in Melissa's
class at the Paper Niche. I had always wanted
to make one and Melissa was excellent at teaching
this class. I went off course and made mine tropical
instead of the ABC one she was teaching. I will
finish it one day, especially when I need the therapy!
Thanks Melissa! Everyone else, if you haven't tried
one, I highly recommend it.

This is such a great boost for

Yeah!!!
And the Sun-Sentinel editorial board
has endorsed him also, saying they
feel he is the strongest candidate for the job.

Just arrived by UPS today, my beautiful pink camera,
the case and the batteries, sent by a little angel named
Donna from Lady Lake, FL., just like she told me on

world and she will be blessed for being one of them!
And thanks to my daughter Gina for loaning me her
camera while I waied for mine! And of course, our
dear Lord for hearing all our prayers.

something new...

OK...so here's a new (to me) place to sell handmade / vintage / supplies.
I signed up with ARTFIRE yesterday as a supplement to ETSY.
I am looking at this like a real job...making things,
selling my excess supplies and any vintage pieces I have.
I have to give it 100% for it to work and take it seriously.
I am at my work table daily, either creating or gathering.
There are a few other communities out there to do this, but I've
researched these two and I'm giving them a whirl...we'll see.
Please visit both sites and let me know what you think.

*****THANKS*****

update on the camera story

I finally spoke to my "new best friend" Donna,
who lives near Ocala, Fl., and she is sending my
camera UPS today. I was overwhelmed with joy.
The funny thing is, her daughter helped her look thru
the pictures and found a photo of "Green Dwellers"
grand opening flyer with her phone number on it,
called her and described some of my pics, and Mylene,
the owner put it all together that it was me...
and here we are! Thank God I take pictures of everything!
Thank you Donna and all the prayers (St. Anthony)
that were sent out for its safe return.
I know it is just an object, but it is very personal to me.
Oh happy day!

Tuesday, February 10, 2009

my faith has been restored!!!

We received a phone call, ( message ) from a woman who found my camera!!!
I don't have the whole story ( or the camera yet ), but she said she has it
and we will meet up and I will get it back...oh happy happy joy joy!
I will take a picture of her and post it as soon as I get it. Please disregard any-
thing I said in a prior post! :)

Thursday, February 5, 2009

boo hoo hoo :(

I am a girl without a camera...
it was "stolen" from the Hard Rock casino
yesterday. Yes, it's my fault for leaving it at
one of the machines while I glazed over hitting
the buttons and winning. I went to sit next to
my sister-in-law and completely forgot to pick it
up and take it along. By the time I realized, maybe
15 minutes later...it was gone. I checked
lost & found/security,
and no one turned it in...they "stole" it.
I had every picture I've ever taken on there since my
kids gave it to me for Mother's Day last year and I really
loved it. It was pink and in a cute black case with palm trees
on it. I also had extra batteries in there and some of the
"re-elect Rico" pens & emery boards.
I hope when the thief looks through the pics and sees all of my
children & grandchildren, they have a heart and return it.
I guess I'm very optimistic and hopeful.
So...if you happen to anyone taking pictures with a pink camera, call me!

my "new" "temporary" work space

Once again, I have spent days organizing my
bead "collection". However, this is the first
time I have labeled and color coded everything.
(My daughter Angela gave me the label maker
last year...thanks big "A").
This will help me to get my ETSY sale items ready,
put grab bags together, and make jewelry in a
relaxed way. Now, if I could only do this to the
other room in my house that has scrapbook &
rubber stamp supplies, I'd have it made.
"One day at a time"

bead boxes and rolling carts

beading supplies like crimps, spacers
jump rings, ear wires... I love it!

beads, beads and more beads!

view from my table... I put the fish net up on
the window for some reason and I think I may
take it down.

I'm very proud of myself for doing this.

I would sit down and make something, but I
don't want to mess it up!

celine!

WOW!!!
What a show she puts on.
We went last night to
AAA in Miami and we were
treated to a spectacular
performance by Celine Dion.
The energy, the voice, the
costumes changes and of course
I noticed her jewelry. She is
a true entertainer.

Cirque Dreams Jungle Fantasy

We went to see the show last night
at the Hard Rock and OMG!
It was amazing. The colors, costumes,
the actors, dancers, singers, etc.,
were spectacular. I was like a kid
in awe of the way they bend their bodies,
like pretzels and I still can't get my knee
to bend all the way back after surgery.
I would recommend it to everyone.
It was a Christmas gift from our friend, Bob.
Thanks again Bob!

a cane about 75% of the time.

So I sat down today and pulled out
all my self stick bling that I had and
started decorating my cane.

It's a little over the top, but I love it!

It really sparkles outside.

I think I am walking better now
that I'm blinged out!!! Who knows,
maybe this trend will catch on.

I can't remember if it was Krista or
Cary that suggested I do this...so thanks
to you both!

rico's campaign kick-off party

We had a small fundraiser for Rico's re-election
(for plantation city council) in march '09.
It was great to be out of the house among friends.
Max has a great museum in Plantation, that
features many different artist, including himself.
Check it out sometime.
Thanks Max & Evelyn.

jesse & dominic

My son, Dominic & his girlfriend, Jesse, went
to South Plantation's home coming dance
at Signature Grand last night. They had a ball.
Jesse was on the committee and set up the decorations
and everything for the event and Dom said it
looked great. What a cute couple!

50 days & 50 nights

Well, it's been 50 days since
my knee replacement surgery
and it seems like 50 years!
I won't go in to the gory details
right now, but I just want to
get back to blogging, taking pictures
and creating things again,
along with everything else I did
before this "event".
That's all for now...

Sunday, September 7, 2008

Hi !

Getting ready for knee replacement

I won't have access to the Internet
for a while, but I hope to have good
news to share soon.
Please keep me in your prayers.

I think this is the one from our area.
I'm so informed! LOL

It was a great concert and the seats were

back to school

Our traditional "first day of school"
photo...Dominic reluctantly posed
for this on his way to Broward College,
which is now a four year school. So,
he'll be close to home while being educated.
Later that day his comment on school..
"college is hard". I guess after a long
hot summer, it's difficult to get back
into the swing of things.
Hang in there kid!

here comes the bride...

Gina made cupcakes instead
because the storm delayed the
delivery of the cake to Publix.

Sisters: Angela, Carla, Maria, Gina & Lisa
Not pictured: their brother, Dominic (1st day
of college) he came later with the food!

It was a beautiful day. The change of plans due
to the weather didn't bother us at all. We set
everything up in the house and it was perfect!
Almost everyone wore black and/or white and
looked great. The tables were decorated with
flowers & candles and music played in the background.
We all had a good time eating, drinking champagne
and wishing the newlyweds our best.
They followed the storm up to Orlando where
they will honeymoon and hopefully get a few
days of sunshine.
Congratulations to Maria & Robert!

...and they lived happily ever after!

wedding still on!

Maria's bouquet
Well it looks like we are getting a storm.
Dominic's first day of college, cancelled.
The wedding plans are still on, a little damp,
and somewhat hindered, but on. The few
things left to do, can be done inside, but
the shopping for last minute things,
may be tough. Well, at least Maria & Robert
will have a great story to tell their kids!

discovery!

A couple of week ago, by accident, I found something very interesting...right above, at the top of the screen...look up!
Above the header is the blogger symbol, then a space to search, then SEARCH BLOG, then FLAG BLOG, after that is NEXT BLOG. I clicked on that and it took me to a blog I had never seen before. I clicked again, and again, etc... I went all over the world in every language and so many different types of blogs, it was amazing! When I have time, I just click away and go on a world wide traveling adventure. Some of you may have known this, but if you were like me, it was quite a surprise. Just wanted to share the fun!
Please let me know what you think!

wedding in a week

On Wednesday, August 20, 2008, my daughter
Maria & her fiance, Robert are getting married.
It's a mid-week, daytime occasion because it
is their special date. It will be a quaint affair
with just the immediate family, short & sweet.
We are just about ready. I will post the pictures
after. Above is the gazebo where they will take
their vows (weather permitting), then back to
my house for a (brunch) reception.
The party favors for the guest, vanilla candles
covered with vellum. raffia, flowers & rhinestones.
I just like this picture... it has nothing
to do with the wedding.

pyramid boxes

Opened up, they are about 12" x 12" and make
great boxes for gift cards, large jewelry pieces,
and so much more. Many people use them as
party favors. I've had orders for
weddings, birthdays, baby/wedding showers etc...
The holiday prints will be available soon.
They look amazing on the party table.

I make them by hand (not a die-cut)
and line them so they are very sturdy.

These boxes are one of my
specialty items. I have been making
them for over 12 years.
These (above) are the x-tra large size and
also come in small, medium, & large.
The small & medium look great on the
Christmas tree as an ornament (with a
secret gift inside)!

I worked on these
at the crop last night and now
I just need to assemble with
ribbon and make a matching tag.

I hope to sell these on "etsy" along
with jewelry, flower pens and a few
other handmade items.

"The Paper Niche" employee crop

pre-food & drink!
Later came the Sangria,
which I had a few glasses of!
Tammy cooked the best stuff for us! Yummy!
Taco's, chicken, and all the fixins'.
Rhonda brought the Margarita's. Oh yeah!

before the crop...

then there were 9 of us.
Tammy, Rhonda, Krista, Charlene,
Melissa, Joanie, Bonita, Leah and me (Camille)

the best Sangria (I think that how it's
spelled)...who cares, it was great!

all the busy bees, plus we had a little celebration
for Melissa (due next month)

Krista worked all night on this album. Notice
four drinks in front of her...hummmmmmm?
No wonder she looks so happy!

We all relaxed and enjoyed ourselves and even
managed to get some projects finished. I made about
a dozen pyramid boxes (I'll take a picture tomorrow).

We missed Laurie, Kelley, Cary and Barbie...maybe next time.
Thanks Tammy & Rhonda.

this was on the pump before we pulled up and
I thought how crazy that looks! I only spend
around $40, so to see this was shocking!

another surprise party

Betty & her daughter's...they really surprised her!
Hats, feathers, necklaces, and boa's are available
for everyone to wear and buy, if you'd like.

champagne & tea...we put sugar in both...
went down real easy! whoa!

birthday girl

a very happy Betty (crying & laughing)

this time it was Betty's, at a tea room in Davie
called "British Marketplace/Let's have tea",
very quaint and lots of fun!
They served champagne, tea, little
sandwiches, fruit cups and cookies,
all in a room decorated with tea pots,
vintage tea cups, British stuff and unique
finds. A great time was had by all.
Betty was very happy and surly surprised.
The place smelled great and we found out it
was Pomegranate sachets. I bought two of them!
Now my car & house smell wonderful.
This would be a good place to have a little party,
baby/bridal shower or just meet for tea.

Now, more than ever, my pool & back yard is
my oasis.
On September 10, 2008,
I am having knee replacement surgery.
The pool is the only place I can move freely
with minimal pain, to prepare for this.
Today, I was in & out all day, swimming, running,
stretching and floating.
Ahh...pure heaven.
I folded the laundry outside,
filled the birdbaths up with clean water, and took these
pictures of my oasis!

my new bag

For a few months now I have been searching
www.ebay.com , www.etsy.com , along with
a few stores and some patterns to sew my own,
for a hobo, slouch, subway type purse/tote bag.
I found this last week at Wal-Mart and it will do
just fine. The only thing it's missing are pockets on the
inside for all my stuff. It has gussets and opens up so
wide that I think I can carry a baby in there!

I love the colors and fabrics in this
patchwork (browns, cranberry, taupe, etc.)

It reminds me of some scrapbook paper I've seen.
It comes in other colors along with solids...
great deal for $13.

before & after

We have a "spare" room in the house that had
become a storage room. Instead of being embarrased,
I decided to share! Please do not judge...LOL

After many months of procrastinating, my
daughters, Gina & Maria, (used to be their room)
came over to help me sort through all this clutter.
Dominic was the strong box mover and he hauled
many items to my car to be taken to Goodwill, as
well as lots of garbage, and a portion going to the
Historical Society Gift Shop in Plantation.
This was like therapy and also physically
exhausting...but worth it. It took us two days
with just a few more things to finish today.
We made a trip to Goodwill in the afternoon yesterday
and the rest will go today! FREEDOM!

laurie's surprise party!

It was Laurie's (Paper Niche) 55th birthday and
her best friend, Fran, surprised her with family
and friends at Brio Tuscan Grille for brunch,
in Pembroke Pines.
It was fantastic. She was so surprised, she laughed
and cried at the same time.
The food was great, Fran read a funny poem that
she wrote and we all said a little something to
the birthday girl.
A good time was had by all.

These were the place cards we took home,
cute metal purse/frames.

my house cleaning challenge

OK, house work is not one of my favorite things to do,
however, it must be done or you will see me on the
news with 100 cats and garbage up to my ears.
So, I forge ahead and and I just do it!
Here's my challenge for myself. Every day I clean and
reorganize a drawer, cabinet or closet. It could be one
nightstand or kitchen drawer, a bathroom closet, or some
awful chore, like cleaning the grout in the shower
(today's job, completed). This may take a year or so to
comeplete since I do this along with the laundry,
cooking, shopping and all the regular stuff I do, but
at least it doesn't overwhelm me. I guess I am NOT
a desperate housewife, but a domestic goddess as
Roseanne used to say!

still awake

This is Maria's new tote...I love it!
The straps are bead chips!
(it has nothing to do with the story below)

well, I did get something done...
made Rico his lunch for tomorrow,
organized some paper, filled a scrapbook
with printed paper ( to be scrapped later),
moved a folding table to start setting up for
my bead class on Thursday, sent a couple of e-mails,
checked a blog that I found yesterday and I think
that's it...nothing worth taking a picture of, but
mission accomplished anyway.
I may attempt sleep again...I wish I wasn't such a big chicken
to go swimming alone at night, because that's what I want to do.
I guess a bath will have to do.

another restless night...
I either go to bed at 11:00 and
wake by 3:00 or can't sleep until
around 2:00 and then up at 6:00.
oh well, at least I always have something
to do during these times.
I always check my e-mail, wander through
the house looking for projects to start, or
take out either beads or paper and create
something...
maybe I'll take a photo of what I end up doing.

reflections

(not my page, but I want to be there)!

OK~I'm sitting here thinking...
this summer is speeding by.
I have not been to the beach yet,
and that was my #1 priority.
It seems like everything I want to do
is taking a backseat to what I have to do.
Being a responsible adult isn't all it's cracked
up to be. I just want to run (that's a joke with
my bad knees) and be the freespirit that I
always was. My wings are clipped...when did this
happen???

a walk through my back yard

It's been weeks since I wandered
through my backyard to see all
the beauty around me. I was pleasantly
surprised by the myrtle that bloomed
on the side of the house.
Since I don't get away enough for vacation,
I take a trip outside, watch the butterflies
flutter, listen to the birds sing and quietly
ponder all that God has created for us to enjoy.

a work in progress

I found this plain little bag at a thrift store along time ago and have been adding beads to it for years. The fringe used to go all across the bottom, but it caught on something and came loose...I may continue to work on it from time to time. All these post & pictures are my way keeping track of the things I do, sort of like a diary, so if anyone reads this, great, if not, that's ok too! Hello to myself! :)

Jesus Christ Superstar!

Outside:
The Broward Center for
the Performing Arts.

WOW! What a show we saw tonight.
The music, set, actors...everything
was amazing. (Couldn't take pictures
inside so I took a few of the plants outside.)
We were deeply moved by story of course,
but the passion and realism of it was...breathtaking.

finished!

Finished the daisy chain the same day I started,
just forgot to post...so here it is...whooppeee!

beadin' my life away...

The early bird gets the...beads!
Up at 4:00am, for no reason,
so I sat down to make this cha cha
bracelet that has been in my
head for some time now. It took most
of the morning, in between making
coffee, breakfast & reading the paper,
but it was worth it. Greens & blues,
like the ocean. I've made a couple of
pink bracelets in the past, so the next
will be purple or maybe coral & sand.
Cha Cha Cha :)

Who's your Daddy (?)

Hey, he's not my father...that comment has been a joke
between Rico & I forever! Of course, on Mother's Day,
he says the same to me.
But seriously, I do wish him and all the other men,
who take care of their families, a very happy, restful,
peaceful and carefree day.

I may have to put a little piece of paper behind it
to cover the white, but I think it looks great.

these are a few of my favorite things...

flower power

Working on a project...a blast from the past!
I used to make these flower beads when I was
a teenager using Indian beads. They were a mix
of colors with irregular shapes. With more of a
selection of colors and styles now, I use seed
beads, size 11, very small. You can make a necklace,
bracelet or ring. It's very relaxing working with a
needle and thread for beading. This as far as I got
between laundry (see below) and household stuff.
I may finish it today (or not) and I'll post a picture
of the finished product...whenever.

Graduation Day & Family

Sunday, June 1st, 2008...
graduation day from South Plantation High School.
Our last child, hitting another milestone.
We are so proud of him. :)
And we are also proud of our five daughters and all they have accomplished in their lives. They are wonderful women, sisters, mothers, wives, and talented people, each in their own way. Our ten grandchildren have a great start in life with these girls and our son-in-laws and future son-in-laws. Our job as parents continues, forever, and is always a learning experience. We get better at it every year, especially when they are not living with us!
Love to all my family and to Dominic, blessing on the next stage of your life.

"love" beads

Falling in love with beading again.
I go through stages of what I like
to work on, and the beads are back,
combined with paper crafts.
I like making jewelry, but would rather
do a free form type where anything goes...no rules.

Above is a mini notebook I covered with paper.

I punched holes along the edge
and started stringing beads on wire.

Using the same beads & technique,
I made two hearts and a dragonfly.

I made "bead soup", which is just an assortment
of beads mixed together in a butterfly dish and just wing it.
Today was a pink mix, even though some look like purple.
* Fun * Fun * Fun *

Time to bring out the many boxes of beads,
and start creating again. :)

"Love" is in the air.

Finally...

I have now joined the rest of the world with my new camera!
I always took photos when the kids were growing up with my 35mm
and when the digital came around, I was afraid I wouldn't know how to use it,
so I never got one.
Now that the family gave me one for Mother's Day...I am in the loop!
I am picture happy! It is so easy and way too much fun!
I took pictures of everything!
Posted a few below of cards I made (see Happy Mother's Day below)
There is no stopping me now!

Paper Crafting with Carol Duvall

Check out Carol Duvall's new (2007) book! I am mentioning this because one of my projects that I sent to her and she demonstrated on her HGTV show, was published on pages 156 & 157 and a few other places in the book. I have also seen websites that advertise the book, opened to my pages!
When I e-mailed Carol to thank her, she wrote back and said that at a book signing in Michigan, the employees used my paper flowers at a make n' take class.
They really are fun and easy to make.
Along with my project are over 45 others featured in this book.
It is available at The Paper Niche.
This concludes my 15 minutes of fame!

Stella got her groove back

I'm back! Thanks to Bonita's creative package and the challenge that was given to me by the Paper Niche, the creative juices are flowing again. I now understand why people enjoy scrapbooking. It's not just crafting, there is a meaning and purpose to it. Below are the projects that I created in just 2 days, using only the kit! I managed to use almost every scrap of paper, ribbon and embellishment. I can now call myself a scrapper.

A very special page dedicated to my grandson, Joey, who was born blind.

A line from Elton John's song always brings me to tears...

"your eyes have died, but you see more than I"

A little about me.

Hi,

My name is Camille Petrocelli. I live in Plantation with my husband Rico ( a Councilman here in the city) and son, Dominic who is a senior at South Plantation.
I am a mother of six (five daughters & one son) and grandmother of ten!
I work at the Paper Niche part time and teach a class or two now and then.
Most of my life has been filled with art in many forms. I consider myself a mixed media artist, loving so many different things and never being able to devote all my time to just one craft. I just recently started to scrapbook (after 16 months of watching people at the Paper Niche). Tammy gave the design team a challenge to put together pages, cards, etc., from a kit that was assembled by someone else, filled with paper, embellishments, ribbons & more. After being in a creative slump for many months, I rose to the occasion and finished it in about two days ( I was amazed).
Working on the pages was like therapy. I had to dive deep inside and feel what I was putting on each page. I can say that I really get it now. I made five pages, 18 small cards, an acrylic wall hanging, a "paper purse" with four note cards and a bookmark. I had very little leftover from the kit and could have made a small acrylic book (my crop-a-dile is missing in action). I even made a project for the April class schedule! WOW!
Well, I guess I wrote more than just a "little about me". I will return with even more, soon.
Thanks to Krista for all her help in setting this up and to Tammy for her patience with me and to all the girls at the Paper Niche and Melissa & Leah for their inspiration.
